Wednesday, Nov. 18 is almost here, and with that brings a Foellinger Auditorium performance from pop-rock act The Academy Is… Based out of the Chicago suburbs, the five-piece is currently signed to the Decaydance imprint of the popular Fueled By Ramen label. No strangers to the CU stage, the band was last in town in April promoting their 2008 release Fast Times at Barrington High.
Since their last visit, the band has released the iTunes/concert EP Lost in Pacific Time: The AP/EP. As a one-off event from the end of the current Alternative Press sponsored Fall Ball 2009 tour, The Academy Is… will be joined by electronic pop act The Secret Handshake.
Known for their energetic, crowd-pleasing shows, The Academy Is… works hard to maintain a close, interactive connection with their fans through a regularly maintained blog and video podcast called TAITV.
With the success of 3 full-lengths, 4 EPs and numerous compilation appearances, the band’s performance is certainly not one to miss.
Tickets for the concert are still available through Ticket Central in the Illini Union or by calling 333-5000. Tickets are $20 for students and $22 for the general public. Doors open at 7:00 P.M. for the 8:00 P.M. show.
