If the only thing that brings you into a bar is the beer selection, then you’ve probably been to the Blind Pig Co. Beer snobs will already be familiar with winner of buzz’s award for Best Off-Campus Bar for the third year in a row. This article is not for them. This is for the aspiring connoisseur ready to throw in the red Solo cup; the conversationalist who can’t stand the clubs but wouldn’t mind a cold lager and the warmth of wooden English pub-style walls; or just a campus bar fiend looking to expand on their own blurry horizons. The Blind Pig Co. is the best off-campus bar.
Just a block away from their own Blind Pig Co. Brewery (aka “The Piglet”), the Blind Pig has a selection of over 100 bottles to choose from, 26 beers on tap at any given time, alongside two wooden casks that pump specialty cask-conditioned ale, giving the bar that touch of authenticity that on an especially foggy night might fool a seasoned drinker into thinking they somehow wound up in England when they wake up from a brown-out.
If it’s that pub style ambiance alone that brings you to the bar, be sure to check out Celtic folk music every Sunday from 5-9 p.m. But if it’s just the booze that brings you in, come on Sunday or Monday for $2 shots of Jameson and $1 PBRs.
