酸葬儀 acidfuneral will be releasing their second full-length album May 4th with Arctic Ritual Records and Swampkult productions. The local band produces psychedelic, atmospheric black metal at the forefront of the metal music scene in the CU area. This summer 酸葬儀 acidfuneral will be playing live at Audiofeed Festival with a full line-up with members from other local powerhouses such as Marathon, ode vinter, acker, a hill to die upon, collector, arboris and more.

The band released their first album “放浪者 wanderer” back in November of 2017.  The album was a hit within the CU community and quickly reached popularity amongst local scene goers. “放浪者 wanderer” made Smile Politely’s Top 10 Local Albums of 2017, and with good reason. Each song from 酸葬儀 acidfuneral is a new, desolate landscape of emotion and ruminations. There are typical elements of black metal, but the band deviates and creates a more ethereal experience through heavy reverb and the lack of blast beats.

酸葬儀 acidfuneral’s new song “漂流通してスターレスレルム drifting through a starless realm” single-handedly shows the immense progress the band had made since its debut album. The bands prolific atmospheric sound reigns true in the new single, featuring textured metal vocals and intricate guitar runs. Structurally, “drifting through a starless realm” is short, but still packs a punch lyrically. The production since their previous release has grown significantly with an evener balance and clearer elements. “drifting through a starless realm” is great introduction the band and a big green flag for the rest of the album to come.

As the band grows, 酸葬儀 acidfuneral hopes to put Champaign-Urbana on the map in terms of innovative metal. Their new album will be released for mainstream via the 酸葬儀 acidfuneral Bandcamp site but will be available upon release on Spotify and YouTube.
