Valentine’s Day is here and that means couples are looking for something fun to do together and the single folks are looking for a fun night out with friends. But, things like fancy dinners and dressing up, spending extravagant amounts of money, does not appeal to people as much these days. We want to be more practical, while still having a special time with our loved ones. That’s where the Misfit Valentine’s Night Market comes in to save the night and your romantic plans.

Misfit Market puts on marketplace features several times throughout the year, but this one is specially designed for the romance and love of Valentine’s Day. This year, they’re featuring a drop-in dance class, a hypnotherapist specializing in self-love and even some classic wine tasting. Along with these special events, get some delicious food from one of the hosts, Broadway Food Hall and browse the many gift vendors in search of the perfect last-minute present for your sweetheart or best friend.

One of the more interesting features of the night will be writer and hypnotherapist, Caitlin McCoy. Her therapy is about helping create an inner transformation within yourself. She will be featuring 15-minute guided personal sessions to help you cultivate your best self. She has been studying hypnotherapy since 2019 and believes being able to access this subconscious state of mind is the key to making the changes you want to see in your life. Her sessions will be offered from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

The Urbana Dance Company will be featured at this year’s market offering drop-in classes of what they like to call “dance party” classes, all ages and levels welcome! This is their first time appearing in the market, offering their wide variety of dances to get creative with.

“The Urbana Dance Company has a commitment to back Native American leadership and existence and young people in their dreams and goals. We work for this by celebrating dance, art, and life together,” said Kate Insolia, artistic director and instructor at the company.

Along with this they offer a variety of dance classes at their location on Main St, from belly dance to dance healing lessons! After the Misfit Market, drop by their studio for their Valentine’s Day Latin Dance Night from 8-11 p.m. and bring a friend for free!

Along with all that self-reflection and dance, make sure to stop and try one of the three wine options at the $8 wine tasting by Analog, a local wine bar and store in Urbana. This store is all about a relaxing and fun environment featuring a curated selection of wines by the bottle or just for a tasting.

The Misfit Valentine’s Day Market is at the Broadway Food Hall, 401 N. Broadway Ave, this Friday from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. featuring nearly 20 vendors to check out and tons of tasty food to enjoy with your friends or your significant other!
